# OpenAI is offering $20 ChatGPT Plus for free to some users

If you're already subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20, you can request OpenAI to cancel your subscription, and it may offer one month of free usage.

This change was first spotted by BleepingComputer over the weekend.

As a Flutter/Dart developer, I've found Claude to be the best for my use cases, and I've almost stopped using ChatGPT, which is why I decided to cancel my subscription.

When I opened ChatGPT and tried to cancel the subscription, OpenAI offered me one month of ChatGPT Plus at no cost.

The next renewal automatically switched to free ($0/month), and now I'll need to pay again after the offer ends (around late Feb 2026).

If nothing changes after **Feb 17, 2026**, my plan would switch back to the normal paid price, so the safest place to check is the **Manage** button under **Payment**.

This offer is valid in several regions, and it's being gradually rolled out.
